STM NEWS | Term 1, Week 11, 2025

Dear Families,

It is hard to believe that we are in the final week of Term 1 already! As we reflect on the past 11 weeks, we can be very proud of all we have accomplished together as a school community. It has been an action-packed term full of learning, growth, and shared experiences, where challenges were met with determination and successes celebrated with joy. We commend every student, teacher, and family member for their dedication and hard work.

Here are a few highlights of the term…

Harmony Day was a vibrant occassion that brought our community together to honour the unique cultures and traditions that make us so special.

Our shared faith and traditions were beautifully highlighted as we celebrated the feast days of St. Patrick and St. Joseph. These moments allowed us to honour the lives of these saints and reflect on their powerful examples of faith, courage, and compassion.

Shrove Tuesday and Ash Wednesday marked the beginning of Lent—a time for reflection and spiritual preparation. These significant days offered us an opportunity to pause, reset, and open our hearts to renewal and growth.

Beyond the Classroom

The introduction of Auslan lessons has been well received and a great new addition to our school curriculum. Students have embarked on an inspiring journey into learning Australian Sign Language, fostering meaningful connections and exploring the power of communication in new and impactful ways. Auslan day is officially celebrated on 13th April and this week the children have been participating in a finger spelling competition to commemorate the day.

Our students continue to work hard to prepare for the Catholic Schools Music Festival Choir and the Children’s University program has provided wonderful opportunities for exploration and extended learning. This term also brought with it the challenges and triumphs of NAPLAN testing. We are proud of our students for their focus and resilience during this time and we await the results later in the year.

Congratulations to the year 3-6 teachers and classes for a very successful event last Friday morning. We had a large attendance from families who enjoyed the experience of seeing their child’s/grandchild’s project work displayed in classrooms. Many of our visitors commented on how proud they were of the children’s work and how happy they were for the opportunity to attend and participate in the morning’s events. Well done everyone and thank you to Ms Theodosi for leading the organisation of this event.

Art Gallery Walk and Stations of the Cross

Throughout this week our students will partake in important Liturgical events prepared by our classes including Our Art Gallery Walk and Stations of the Cross. As we remember the events of Holy Week this week and look forward to our Easter celebrations during the school holidays, let us take a moment to reflect on the true meaning of Easter. As a Catholic community, Easter reminds us of the triumph of life over death, hope over despair, and love over fear. This Easter, we invite you to reflect on the hollow Easter egg as a symbol of the empty tomb of Christ and the joy of His Resurrection. It is a beautiful reminder that, through faith, we are called to embrace renewal and share love and kindness with those around us.

Sports Day this Friday!

This Friday, we look forward to celebrating our annual Sports Day. The weather looks perfect, and we anticipate a school buzzing with families, fun and fitness. We acknowledge to work of Mr Cristian Morgado who has put in hours of work behind the scenes to make this day possible. While we have winners on the day, it’s the spirit of teamwork, determination, and sportsmanship that is what the day is all about.

So, as you can see it has been a busy term, and none of this would have been possible without the incredible dedication and cooperation of our staff, students, and families. Thank you for your unwavering support, hard work, and commitment to learning. It is through our combined efforts that we continue to grow as a community centred on faith, excellence, and compassion.

On a personal note, thank you for the warm welcome this term, building relationships with students, families, and staff has been a privilege and joy.

As we move into the well-earned break, we embrace the opportunity to rest, recharge, and prepare for the new adventures that await in the next term.

Shaping our future together,
The Leadership Team

Class 1/2JF | A fair bread extravaganza

This term, our 1/2 JF class has been learning all about procedures! Students practiced writing their own procedudre, and for some extra fun, decided to create a “Fairy Bread Recipe” together. The students wrote out the steps, then the whole class followed the instructions to make their very own delicious fairy bread. It was a wonderful, hands-on, learning experience.

ICT - Cybersafety

As the holidays approach, it’s a good time to remind families about the importance of staying alert and guiding our children to use their devices responsibly.

One helpful tip is to encourage kids to use their technology in shared spaces, like the living room or kitchen, rather than private areas such as bedrooms. This makes it easier to keep an eye on their online activities. We also recommend carefully monitoring your child’s use of social media apps. Make sure they meet the age requirements, and consider using filters or parental controls to stay informed about what your child is sharing or receiving in chat groups. This helps you stay connected and aware of their digital interactions.

The online world evolves rapidly, and staying informed about potential risks can be challenging. At school, our teachers are actively teaching students about online safety to help them navigate the digital space responsibly and securely. Let’s work together to keep our children safe as they explore and enjoy the online world!
