Our Curriculum

Successfully teaching our students how to learn, develop thinking abilities, and research skills for over 60 years.

At St Thomas More, we align consistently and purposefully with the Mercy values of compassion, justice, respect, hospitality, service, and courage. Our commitment is to work in partnership with parents, caregivers, students, and staff to provide our students with the best opportunities for individual success.

Through the Australian Curriculum we equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary to become confident and creative individuals, as well as active and informed citizens.

In the primary years, we prioritise literacy and numeracy development as the essential foundations for further learning. As students’ progress through the primary years, they focus on gaining knowledge, understanding, and skills across all eight learning areas.

Beyond the classroom

Extra-curricular activities are those which sit outside of the standard curriculum. We offer these to meet children’s interest as well as motivating our children to become more involved in the school community.

A proud sporting history and focus

St Thomas More School has a major sporting focus. Together with our dedicated Physical Education teacher, we are committed to providing all students with many varied sporting opportunities in the form of weekly PE lessons, an annual Sports Day, Sport Carnivals, and after school sports.

Sports Day

Sports Day is a highlight on the school calendar, showcasing our students’ individual talents, teamwork, and cooperation. Children participate in a wide range of sports and activities, and we encourage them to participate in any way they can.

Sports Carnivals

St Thomas More School enters several different sporting carnivals throughout the year, including district, SAPSASA and state carnivals.

Sport Carnivals we participate in, numbers pending, include soccer, netball, swimming, touch football, athletics, cross country, basketball, t-ball/softball, volleyball, touch football, cricket, tennis, and football.

Catholic Schools Music Festival Choir

Students in Year 5-6 can be part of our senior choir which rehearses regularly with our Choir Teacher. The choir performs annually in the Catholic Schools Music Festival held at the Festival Theatre. The choir also performs at other various events.
