Reconciliation Week
It’s Reconciliation Week at St Thomas More School
Our R-6 students have been learning about what Reconciliation Week is all about, and discovering what it means to them. We are so proud of the understanding, compassion, and empathy they have shown in their actions this week.
The National Reconciliation Week theme for 2024, Now More Than Ever, is a reminder to all of us that no matter what, the fight for justice and the rights of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people will —and must —continue.
We encouraged our students to take part in the Wear it Yellow casual dress day, by wearing a splash of yellow and donating a gold coin donation to raise funds for First Nations organisation, Children’s Ground. The symbolism of wearing yellow can help the students to engage with the ever-important message of Reconciliation Week and the ongoing fight for justice and the rights of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
