Building Works

We are excited to share the wonderful progress of the development of our school facilities. We encourage you to visit this blog for regular building works updates.

Building Project | Stage 1

Resource Centre and Specialised Classrooms

The project to significantly enhance the learning environment for all our students is well undeway. The new Resource Centre and specialised classrooms will be a central hub designed to support the educational needs of our students. It will include areas for research, quiet study, and collaborative learning, as well as a wide range of resources such as books, digital materials, and educational tools to support both in-class and extracurricular activities.

This exciting development is a significant step forward in enhancing the resources and facilities available to our students, and we look forward to seeing the positive impact it will have on their learning experiences. Thank you for your continued support and partnership in fostering an enriching educational environment for our students.

Stage 1 of the building project involves the preparation of the site, including the laying of foundations and construction of the core structure, and the demolition of the Immaculata Building, and commenced in the 2024-2025 school holidays. We anticipate that this phase will take approximately 12 months to complete.

Maintaining a safe and secure school environment: While the building work is ongoing, we will take every measure to minimise disruption to daily school activities. Safety is our top priority, and we will ensure that all construction work is carried out in a way that maintains a safe and secure environment for students, staff, and visitors.

Thursday, 7 August 2025 | Handover!

We’re thrilled to announce that the new Resource Centre and Specialised Classrooms are officially complete! This bright, spacious, purpose-built area is now ready for our dedicated staff to begin filling with books, resources, and all the materials needed to create an inspiring learning environment. We can’t wait to see the students make the most of this incredible new space, designed to support their growth, creativity, and success! Stay tuned for updates as we prepare for this exciting new chapter.

Thursday, 20 February 2025 | Slab has been poured

Stage 1 of our building works are well and truly underway. A very exciting slab of concrete has been poured, creating the literal foundation of our new Resource Centre and Specialised Classrooms space.

Building Works Progress

Thursday, 13 February 2025 | We will have concrete!

The SHAPE Project Team has notified us that the concrete pour for construction of the new Shared Learning Centre is scheduled for Thursday, 13 and Friday, 14 Februray 2025 between the hours of 5am – 5pm.

Please be advised there will be a concrete crane pump truck, and concrete trucks entering and exiting the rear of the school via Yorktown and Shillateer Roads to access 20 Shillateer Road driveway of the Adelaide Chin Christian Church. We do not anticipate that this will impact you in any way other than a little more traffic in the immediate vicinity. Please be assured there will not be any road restrictions in place impacting your access to Yorktown or Shillateer Roads. The construction site at St Thomas More School will be supervised by SHAPE at all times while the concrete crane pump truck, concrete trucks, concrete pour works and associated trades are on site.
