Mr Platten gets slimed!

On Monday afternoon, the time had finally come for our very own – Mr Platten – to be slimed for the incredible fundraising efforts of our entire STM community. Two of our very lucky students’ won the opportunity to slime Mr Platten, not once, but twice!

Our Mercy Day COLOUR FUN RUN is on the last day of Term 3, and we are really looking forward to a fun-filled day. There will be more information to come early next week about the day, so stay tuned!

Our year 3/4s visit the Adelaide Zoo

On Friday, 13 September, our year 3/4 classes went on an exciting excursion to the Adelaide Zoo! The day was filled with laughter and discovery as students explored the diverse range of animals and their habitats. From majestic African lions to playful monkeys and chimpanzee, the children had the opportunity to observe these incredible creatures up close.

“It was so much fun, I got to see my favourite animal the snake, I especially liked seeing the corn snake.” – Muhadissa
“I loved seeing the littly Penguins.” – Tully

Throughout the day, students participated in engaging activities and learned fascinating facts about wildlife conservation and the importance of protecting our natural world. The trip sparked curiosity and inspired many thoughtful questions about the animals they encountered.

“I really liked seeing the meerkats and Red Pandas, they were so cute!” – Sofia
“It was very fun! I loved seeing the lions and watching the monkey and chimpanzees.” – Thomas

Students are busy writing their recounts of the day, capturing their favorite moments and newfound knowledge. It was a fantastic experience that not only brought the curriculum to life but also fostered a sense of wonder and appreciation for nature.

Canteen Reminder – Closed on Mondays

We would like to take this opportunity to remind our school community that our Canteen is closed on Monday each week. Please take this into consideration when placing your child’s orders for through Qkr!

Would you like to be a Canteen Volunteer? You will all agree that all-round legend and Canteen Manager, Jane Wells, does an incredible job running the Canteen throughout the year. But, please take note that she is looking for a regular volunteer to join the ranks. If this sounds like something you would like to help out with, please register your interest online or call our Front Office on 7285 1500. We can help you with any volunteer accredidation you might need.

RUOK? Day at St Thomas More School

St Thomas More School joined the rest of Australia on RUOK? Day, taking stock of our mental health and wellbeing, and taking a moment to check-in on each other. RUOK? Day is an important reminder to start authentic conversations with our loved ones, checking-in on their wellbeing. You can follow these four steps to start a conversation:

  1. Ask RUOK?
  2. Listen with an open mind
  3. Encourage action
  4. Check-in

Before you can look out for others, you need to look out for yourself. There are some pretty great resources on the RUOK? website, that can help you establish if you are in the right headspace to strike up conversations with others. Check it out, if you’re interested – here.

“As communities across Australia participate in R U OK? DAY, we are reminded that every day is R U OK? DAY. We are called everyday to love our neighbours back into fullness of life. And so we pray that on this day, and everyday, we might be there for one another as we walk each other home.” Credit: Andrew Chinn | Butterfly House
