Book Week is undoubtedly one of the most exciting weeks in the school year! Throughout the term all classes will be reading the shortlisted books for this years awards. And as a celebration of the theme, A symphony of Stories, we once again invite the children to dress up as their favourite book week character for our annual Book Week Parade:

Get into the spirit and encourage your child to dress up and be involved in the day!
Dressing up for Book Week allows children to step into the shoes of their favourite characters, transporting them to imaginary worlds where anything is possible. This creative exercise stimulates their imagination and encourages them to think beyond the limits of reality.
Here are a few ideas for costumes:
Classics
- Where’s Wally / Wenda: Red-and-white striped shirt, beanie, and round glasses.
- Harry Potter: House scarf, robe, and a drawn-on forehead lightning bolt.
- The Wizard of Oz: Dorothy with blue gingham, or a tin man made with foil.
- Alice in Wonderland: Mad Hatter with an oversized hat or Alice.
Quirky
- The Cat in the Hat: Tall red-and-white striped hat and a black outfit.
- The Very Hungry Caterpillar: Bright green clothing with a red headpiece or DIY circles.
- The BFG: Big ears and a mixing-bowl horn, or Sophie in a pink nightie.
- Matilda: Blue dress, a red ribbon, and a stack of books.
DIY
- Mr. Bump: A blue long-sleeve top wrapped partially with white crepe paper or toilet bandage rolls.
- The Bad Guys: Simple black or grey suits with a handmade wolf or shark mask.
- Pajama Characters: Wear favorite cozy pyjamas to represent Peter Pan or bedtime stories.
- Dear Broccoli (2026 Notable): Green clothes with a homemade broccoli headpiece crafted from painted cardboard or cotton balls.
Important notes: We ask that you consider weather conditions, ensuring your child is appropriately dressed and wearing suitable footwear (i.e.: no thongs). Students may wear hair colour and make-up, but it must be applied at home and not brought to school. Moreover, this is not a casual clothes day, and student not wearing a costume must wear their correct school uniform.
